About Me

Hi I'm Daniel Watson a Teeside University graduate who is looking to join a games industry to use the skills and knowledge I have learned throughout over 5 years of education in games design and development, to learn more skills within the industry and work within a team to produce high quality games.

This website is a culmination of my work throughout my years of University and work i have done afterwards.

Portfolio

Masters Game Design

In my Masters Year Final Project I looked into creating a game that uses procedural generation as its main aspect and research how this can affect game play. The final product was a top down shooter where the player can choose from four playable characters and access three levels with procedural generation to get different tile layouts each time they play.

Advanced Mission Design

In Advanced Mission Design i was tasked with creating a mission for a short campaign of three levels where in I created the mission for the final level. I chose the New York rocker fella plaza as inspiration for my level.

Final Year Project

My final year project was a first person survival game with an arctic setting. In this game I intend to include small puzzles and tasks to solve.

It was a single player game within a small open world scene that included survival mechanics such as health, hunger, stamina, inventory and combing items.

Advanced Games Development

The advanced games development project was a group project where we used the unity engine. Within this group I created the initial HUD and the final game pause menu.

Interface Design

In the third year I was tasked with creating my own interface in which I based off the survival game genre. Since this was an interface task I made a demo level and used blueprints to create the correct mechanics and have them match up with the interface.

Journey Man

Journey Man was the largest group project I had taken part of within University, I had taken the role of interface design and quickly became invested in it creating the main menu and pause menu.

To make the main menu a lot more interesting than most main menus i designed it to be an open area where you could play as the main character whilst also able to choose the usual main menu options. In this way i felt it gave the player a good impression of what the game will look like and whats to come.

Creative Portfolio

In the second year of my course one of our assignments was to create new work to showcase onto our website.

The following pictures are what I produced during the creative portfolio assignment I had chosen to create two levels one of which was a western ghost town and the other being a small village coverd in snow. I created these levels by using assets provided by the infinify blade asset grasslands and icelands pack on Unreal, Cryengine assets and downloads from Turbosquid.
